Cindy Ngamba’s life took an extraordinary turn when she fled her home country of Cameroon at the tender age of 11. Escaping conflict and seeking safety, she found refuge in Britain. Despite the challenges she faced as a young refugee, Ngamba discovered her passion for boxing.

The Road to the Olympics

Ngamba’s dedication and hard work led her to athletic achievement at the 2024 Olympic Games. Representing the Refugee Olympic Team, she stepped onto the global stage in Paris, competing in the women’s 75kg boxing category.

In the semifinals, Ngamba faced a feared opponent: Panama’s Atheyna Bylon. The tension was felt as the two fighters squared off. Ngamba’s determination and resilience were evident, but Bylon’s skill and experience proved decisive. Bylon was declared winner by split decision.

Despite the lossing to Bylon, Ngamba etched her name in Olympic history.
